International Telework Visa (Digital Nomad in Spain)

The visa teleworker international in Spain, known as visa digital nomad, is a route more attractive for foreign professionals to reside in Spain while working remotely for companies located outside of the country. This legal figure, introduced in the Law 28/2022 development of the ecosystem of startups Act (Startups), responds to the growing global demand for international mobility and telework.

This is a permission directed to qualified professionals, consultants, programmers, creative, digital, translators, designers, marketing experts, and freelancers international, who wish to settle in Spain, while maintaining their employment or professional relationship with clients and / or foreign employers. It is also of interest to foreign companies and Spanish, that can incorporate talent remote legally and safely, ensuring compliance with the migration regulations, and tax.

What is it?

The visa teleworker international is a temporary residence authorization that allows citizens of third countries to live in Spain while working remotely for companies not established in the country.
Unlike other permissions, this visa is designed for professionals who generate income from abroad, with no need for integration in the Spanish labour market in a direct way.
Granted initially for 1 year, with possibility of becoming a residence permit of up to 3 years and is renewable. After 5 years, can be requested for long-term residence in Spain.

Main requirements to apply for this visa

1. Employment or professional relationship with a foreign company

Of at least 3 months.

2. A university degree, specialized professional training or experience accredited

At least 3 years.

3. Accreditation of sufficient income

It requires the availability of financial means equivalent to 200% of the IPREM for the main applicant, additional 75% for the first family member and a 25 % for the following.
Example 2025: with a IPREM approximate annual 7,200 €, the applicant must provide proof to 14,400 € / year and for each family, between 5.400 € to 1.800 € extra as applicable.

Must be valid in Spain.

5. Lack of a criminal record in Spain

Also must have no criminal record in their country of residence in the past 5 years.

- Certificates from a bank or payroll proving income.
- Private medical insurance valid in Spain.
